AMANDA: Advanced Multidisciplinary Analysis of New Data on Ageing
This EU-sponsored RTD project used advanced multivariate analysis to better understand ageing, health and retirement, using the new data collected in SHARE and its sister surveys ELSA and HRS.

Main aim of these analyses was to develop policy tools in the field of ageing. We employed a number of well-known and also of advanced statistical techniques, including regression types of analyses, multinomial choice models of various kinds, robust, semi-parametric and non-parametric estimation methods, duration analysis, and bio-statistical methods, paying attention to the nature (particularly selectivity) of the samples and the endogeneity of explanatory variables.

Specifically, we conducted statistical and econometric analyses of individual behavioural responses to public policies influencing active and healthy ageing, health care services utilisation, retirement, and social participation. Based on the results, we developed indicators for key concepts relevant to EU policy such as retirement incentives, savings adequacy, well-being and disability status of the elderly.
